Decompression Nucleoplasty

It is a percutaneous treatment, indicated hernias contained, protrusions, (those that have not exceeded the annulus of the disc). System is considered ideal in cervical or lumbar discs with young people hernias, (well hydrated at resonance), in which the mechanism is traumatic production with high intradiscal pressure. The technique (which has already been used in more than 20,000 cases in the US) involves inserting a needle into the disc, radiological control, under local anesthesia and sedation similarly to the procedure discolysis with ozone. But here RF is used to reduce the volume of herniated disc.

Through a needle placed with fluoroscopic guidance, into the disk, an electrode, connected to a RF generator emits radio waves capable of dissolving nucleus pulposus, causing ablation channel of disc tissue from molecular disintegration is introduced without damage to the surrounding tissue, and at low temperatures. Slightly modifying the electrode position, by rotation in the direction of clockwise, six concentric channels which causes a significant reduction in the amount of nucleus pulposus and therefore intradiscal pressure, decreasing thus performed herniation and corresponding pressure on the nerve root.
